  • 1 Patak’s® Biryani One-Pot Rice Kit
  • ½ lb chicken thigh 
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 cup water
  • Cilantro, garnish


  1. Fry the Whole Spices in oil for 20 seconds. 
  2. Follow with chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add the Spice Paste and sauté for 1 min. 
  4. Add the chicken or vegetables and sear in the paste.
  5. Add water, bring to a boil and stir in rice. 
  6. Cook on medium heat until the water has evaporated. 
  7. Finish off by resting rice in a lid-covered pan for 15 min. 
  8. Garnish with cilantro or mint.

For best results, before cooking, rinse the basmati rice several times, until water runs clear.

Also delicious with lamb, or for a veggie option, swap out the chicken for vegetables such as bell peppers, carrots, green beans, green peas, cauliflower and potatoes. Adjust cooking time accordingly.
