Butter Chicken Sandwich (Pav)

Pav is a soft fluffy milk bread made fresh and enjoyed all over India. It is often filled with delicious goodies and eaten on the streets as a snack. This recipe will take your burger skills to a whole new level.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp (15ml) canola oil
  • 4 cups (500g) boneless chicken thighs, diced, 1” to 1 ½”
  • ½ jar Patak’s Butter Chicken Simmer Sauce
  • 8 burger buns (pav), cut in half
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 8 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 10g fresh cilantro, roughly chopped
  • 2 tbsp Patak’s Sweet Mango Chutney
  • 2 tbsp yogurt

Instructions

  1. Start by making the Butter Chicken.
  2. Gently heat a pan and add the oil.
  3. Add the chicken and allow to cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until browned.
  4. Pour in Patak’s Butter Chicken Simmer Sauce and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through.
  5. In the meantime, prepare the pav/bread. Heat a large skillet.
  6. Brush the buns on both sides with butter—toast lightly on the skillet.
  7. Remove and add a slice of cheese.
  8. Pile the cooked Butter Chicken into the buns, and add some onion slices and fresh cilantro.
  9. Mix the Sweet Mango Chutney with yogurt and serve it on the side for dipping.
