Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into small cubes
  • 1 jar Patak’s® Butter Chicken Curry Simmer Sauce
  • 1 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 package of refrigerated pie crust dough (enough for two pies)
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp water

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. 
  2. Add the chicken and brown for 5–6 min. 
  3. Stir in Patak’s® Butter Chicken Curry Simmer Sauce, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 10 min, uncovered, stirring occasionally. 
  4. Stir in the fresh cilantro and simmer for another 5 min. Remove from heat and set aside. 
  5. Preheat oven to 450°F and grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper. 
  6. Unroll the pie crust dough and, using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut as many hearts as you can with the dough. 
  7. Lay half of the hearts on the baking sheet. In the centre of each heart, add about 1 tsp of butter chicken mixture. 
  8. Cover with the remaining heart-shaped cutouts. Using the tines of a fork, press the edges to seal. 
  9. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and water. 
  10. Using a pastry brush, brush the mixture on the tops of the hearts. 
  11. Bake for 10 min, or until golden brown. 
  12. Serve hot.
