A thick, creamy classic, this butter chicken recipe is made with our signature curry paste to add a mouth-watering, chargrilled aroma. It’s the perfect dish for those looking for mild Indian food that bursts with flavor.

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 8 oz chicken, diced
  • 2 tbsp Patak’s® Butter Chicken Curry Spice Paste
  • ⅓ cup water
  • 3 tbsp heavy cream
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (garnish) 


  1. Heat the oil and butter in a medium saucepan on medium-low heat. 
  2. Add the chicken and cook, stirring often, for 5 to 7 min, until lightly browned. 
  3. Add Patak’s® Butter Chicken Curry Spice Paste and cook for 2 min. 
  4. Add the water and heavy cream, and simmer for 15 min, until the chicken is cooked through. If you’d like, add more water to reach your desired consistency. 
  5. Garnish with cilantro and serve with hot rice or naan.

You can also substitute shrimp for the chicken, or swap out the chicken for vegetables or paneer. You’ll need to adjust the simmer time accordingly.
