Goan Pork Burgers

These spicy pork burgers are sure to please Indian food lovers as well as skeptics. It is great to see how Indian flavor can add spice to even the most traditional American dishes. Grill the burgers or cook in a fry pan.

1 lb lean ground pork
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 tablespoons finely chopped cilantro
1 tablespoon tomato paste
2 tablespoons Patak’s® Madras Curry Paste
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
6 hamburger buns
2 tablespoons butter (optional)
2 tomatoes, sliced
lettuce leaves
Mayonnaise, mustard or your favorite Patak's® Indian relish

Combine the pork, onions, cilantro, tomato paste, Madras Curry Paste, and black pepper in a medium bowl. Mix well.

Divide mixture into six portions and form patties. Let stand for 10 minutes.

Preheat grill. Cook the burgers to desired doneness, about 15 minutes, turning once or twice. Or pan-fry the burgers on medium-high heat.

Butter the buns on both sides, if desired. Grill buns, cut side down, until toasted.

Serve burgers on grilled buns with lettuce and tomato. For a real kick of flavor serve with Patak's® Brinjal (Eggplant) relish.
